Functional Lab Testing

Our reports address the real story

Standard lab work is designed to identify disease. We use functional testing and thoughtful interpretation to uncover the patterns that may be quietly affecting your energy, hormones, digestion, and overall well-being.

Free 15-min call, we only suggest testing if it would genuinely help.

Purposeful Testing

Thoughtful Interpretation

We recommend only the tests that help answer meaningful clinical questions. Every result is interpreted within the context of your symptoms, health history, and goals, so your care is always personalized, never one-size-fits-all.

Advanced Hormone Panel

A dried-urine panel mapping your sex hormones and daily cortisol rhythm.

Comprehensive Stool Analysis

Gut bacteria, digestion and inflammation markers.

Detailed Bloodwork

Hormones, minerals, vitamins and antibodies beyond the standard panels.

At-Home SIBO Testing

Assess small-intestinal bacterial overgrowth and track the changes.

We recommend only what earns its place – never a pile of tests “just to see”. Most panels are simple at-home kits, read against optimal ranges, with you.

Why the number alone isn’t the answer

“Normal” is not the same as optimal.

Standard ranges are built to flag disease, and they’re wide. A marker can sit near the bottom of “normal” and still line up with feeling drained. We read the narrower optimal window, plus what standard panels skip.

Ferritin, 28 ng/mL, Low-normal

On a standard panel, 28 ng/mL passes as “normal.” Read against the optimal window your cells actually need (teal), it’s low, and low-normal ferritin is enough to leave you exhausted. The gap between grey and teal is where you live.

Before you book

Questions women usually ask.

Many functional tests can be completed from the comfort of your home using simple collection kits. When bloodwork is appropriate, we can provide Labcorp or Quest orders where permitted or help you find the best available option based on your location.

Most importantly, we don’t simply hand you a report. We explain every result in plain English, helping you understand how your labs connect to your symptoms, health history, and overall wellness.

No.

Testing is one of many tools we use, not the starting point for everyone. Many women benefit from personalized nutrition and lifestyle guidance without additional testing.

If testing would provide meaningful insight, we’ll explain why and recommend only what genuinely supports your care.

No.

We believe every test should have a clinical purpose. Rather than ordering large panels “just to see,” we recommend only the testing that helps answer important questions and guides your personalized care plan.

Traditional lab work is primarily designed to identify disease.

Functional lab testing for bloodwork would be more comprehensive, and its interpretation looks beyond whether a result falls within the laboratory’s reference range. We evaluate optimal ranges, patterns between markers, your symptoms, health history, and lifestyle to better understand what may be contributing to how you feel. Other functional tests (stool, urine) can be used to identify specific issues in the gut, hormones, mitochondria/energy metabolism, or in genetic level.

The goal isn’t simply to rule out illness. It’s to help you function at your best.

This is one of the most common reasons women come to us.

Many women continue to experience fatigue, brain fog, hormone changes, digestive concerns, or low energy despite being told everything looks normal.

We review your symptoms, health history, lifestyle, and available lab work together to understand the bigger picture and determine whether additional evaluation or support may be helpful.

Yes.

We work with women virtually across much of the United States through secure online appointments. Many functional lab tests can be completed from home, making personalized care possible without in-person visits.

If certain testing regulations vary by state, we’ll guide you toward the best available option.

Most functional testing is available throughout the United States. Some laboratory regulations vary by state, particularly for certain blood tests. If needed, we’ll help you identify the best testing option available where you live.

For example, if you’re in NY, NJ, RI, or HI some functional labs may be limited. There are some differences such as: some direct-to-consumer tests are not allowed in NY, others have a different pricing structure. For NJ residents, blood draw needs to be done out of state (LabCorp/Quest) if ordered through us.

We are also happy to work with whatever lab work you have in hand or get ordered through your PCP.

Our care complements, rather than replaces, your physician.

While your medical provider focuses on diagnosing and treating disease, we focus on understanding how nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, digestion, stress, and other interconnected systems may be influencing how you feel.

When appropriate, we’re happy to work alongside your healthcare team.

Absolutely.

Every result is reviewed with you in clear, understandable language. We connect the numbers to your symptoms, explain why they matter, and develop practical recommendations that you can confidently implement.

Our goal is for you to leave feeling informed, empowered, and supported—not overwhelmed.

The best place to start is with a complimentary 15-minute Discovery Call.

We’ll learn more about your concerns, review any existing lab work, and determine whether functional testing is likely to provide meaningful insight for your situation. If testing isn’t necessary, we’ll tell you that, too.

Because more testing doesn’t always mean better care.

Our philosophy is to recommend only the testing that adds meaningful information and helps guide personalized decisions. We believe in thoughtful, purposeful evaluation—not ordering tests simply because they’re available.
